Japanese Sales Manager

1.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Role Summary

Manage sales activities and events in line with the annual sales and marketing plan and to achieve/exceed budget and sales strategy for your hotel with specific respect of the Japanese market

Responsible for establishing and maintaining mutual understanding and goodwill between Japanese guests and management

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Participates in producing, implementing and monitoring action plans to ensure Revenue Plan objectives are achieved from the Japanese Market

  • Analyses current and potential markets/trends, coordinates all activities to maintain and increase revenue through added business volume and increased rate

  • Procures new and repeat business for the hotel by monitoring contact with Japanese airlines, travel agencies, commercial houses, private clubs and professional associations. Maintains contact with Japanese meeting planners, corporate accounts, incentive buyers, airlines and wholesalers, through personal sales calls, telephone contacts and written communications

  • Creates and implements special Japanese program to achieve greater productivity

  • Manages key Japanese accounts

  • Oversees the selling and servicing of Japanese group business

  • Provides direction on and conducts Japanese market research

  • Monitors competitor activities with references to key Japanese hotels

  • Maintains close liaison with Japanese Regional/ Corporate Sales teams and those of other IHG hotels to ensure the hotel receives proper corporate consideration, direction and support

  • Attends major travel functions to promote sales for the hotel

  • Produces monthly Sales reports and forecasts for this segment

  • Meets with Japanese guests from major producers/organizers of big events staying in the hotel to ensure customer satisfaction

  • Organizes and attends major Japanese sales/PR related functions within the hotel. Plan and co-ordinate the provision of friendly, efficient services to Japanese guests

  • Schedule activities for Japanese guests

  • Plan and co-ordinate all promotional activities targeting Japanese clients

  • Trace relevant statistics about Japanese clientele

  • Co-ordinate and supervise all activities for Japanese guests

  • Assist with check-ins/check-outs of Japanese clients when required

  • Greets Japanese Guests upon arrival when required

  • Assist all departments in being receptive to the needs of Japanese guests

  • Assist staff with Japanese language and culture

  • Plan and conduct Japanese group and function rundown meetings

  • Assist in any other duties when required by the Guest Relations Manager

  • Assist with translations (information; guest directory; menus etc) as required

  • Provide feedback from Japanese Guests to Front Office Manager for action

  • Assists department manager to ensure departmental Risk Management Calendar actions are up to date as per monthly calendar schedule.

  • Assists departmental manager with updating the Great Hotels Guest Love departmental Wheel in conjunction with departmental team, to be aligned with overall hotel Great Hotels Guest Love Steering Wheel.  Communicates to team the actions to take on the Great Hotels Guests Love Wheel

  • Assists departmental manager in delivery of the IHG Commitment of Room to Be Yourself

  • Works with Superior and Human Resources on manpower planning and management needs

  • Works with Superior and Director of Finance in the preparation and management of the Department’s budget.

  • Perform any other task assigned based on Crowne Plaza West Hanoi needs or requirements

 

 

2.   REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required Skills 

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with customers, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.

  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office

  • Good writing skills

  • Able to read, write and speak English

  • Able to read, write and speak Japanese

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Front Office System

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Sales & Marketing, Hotel Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred

 

Experience 

  • 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
